The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo engaged 818 studio and SZA studio to complete a Regional Wayfinding Strategy and Downtown Wayfinding Plan. The strategy establishes foundational elements of wayfinding in the region, including the definition, themes, principles, objectives, and goals of wayfinding.

The Downtown Wayfinding Plan provides a more detailed implementation strategy for wayfinding and signage within Fort McMurrray’s downtown including recommendations for location, content, and types of signage.

Wayfinding, at its essence, is an information system that aids in navigation and orientation;  it creates a better experience for residents and visitors by contributing to a sense of safety  and well-being.
